Office Decoration Judging
UMSL Office Spirit Competition 2017

Decorate your Office or Department to show your UMSL Spirit during Homecoming! Demonstrate your school spirit, and bring excitement and energy to Homecoming Week. The winning office will have bragging rights all across campus and win up to $300 toward an office party!

Campus Offices and Departments wishing to participate should register with the Homecoming Committee and have the office decorated by 12:00pm, Friday, February 10, 2017

After decorating is complete, members of the Homecoming Steering committee will come around to each office to judge. All decorations must meet the following requirements to receive participation spirit points and be considered for judging:

  • All artwork MUST include the following information:
    • The name of your office/department
    • The Homecoming slogan, “Where Tradition Happens”
    • The fan page address, facebook.com/umslhomecoming

Judges will grade all submissions on the following criteria:

Effort, Appearance, Creativity, Originality, Tastefulness, & School Spirit.

Student groups and campus departments will build their cardboard boats and race them across the RWC pool in a hilariously wet competition.

Join Panhellenic Association as UMSL students compete in a series of live events to win the title of Big Man on Campus. Add to the penny war buckets and help your favorite contestant win one event! All proceeds from penny wars benefit Girls, Inc.
Blitzball/Silent Disco, 8pm-10pm
JCP Summit Lounge and Lobby
When paint ball is too messy, two teams battle to protect their flag on an indoor field full of bunkers and tons of places to hide and take cover. Don’t want to play? Jump into the Silent Disco and dance the night away to the music you choose.

Student groups and campus departments collect can goods and non-perishables to create a structure that reflects the Homecoming theme. All donated items will benefit the Pagedale Family Support Center.
Chili Feed, 11:30am-1:30pm

It’s the Homecoming Chili Feed! For only $5.00 you will have the opportunity to sample 5 chili recipes submitted and served by UMSL faculty and administrators in the Chili Contest. Vote for your favorite chili entry and the winner will be honored with the Golden Ladle Award.

Lip Sync Competition, 7pm

Join the Homecoming Steering Committee for this performance-based competition open to any team, student group, student organization, or campus department. Teams of up to 10 will choreography a dance and skit performance of up to 8 minutes. All Homecoming Court candidates are required to create their own performance for the competition.

Alumni, students, faculty, and staff come together to celebrate UMSL at the annual dinner and dance at the Chase Park Plaza Hotel.

Tickets cost $30 per individual, $55 per couple, or $275 for a table of 10.

Individual, couple, and student organization/campus department tickets will be available in the Office of Student Life, 366 MSC.

Shuttle Service for the Homecoming Dinner & Dance

Three shuttles will run a continuous loop between the UMSL Campus and the Chase Park Plaza. Stops are listed below.

Shuttle service will begins at 6pm at Mansion Hill. Final shuttle pick up at the Chase Park Plaza Hotel is at 12am. Shuttle service is free of charge. You can track the shuttle on the UMSL App!
